Personally all my life I grew up feeling lost because I didn’t know who I was. I felt I was never me and I didn’t understand how to be. I tried to be everybody else believing that if I was someone else I would be accepted because I didn’t understand how to accept myself.

In church, I’ve heard the same question asked many times. “Who are you?” They always ask. We think of the question so complicated and we ask all these questions like it’s supposed to be everything about you. Think about this. You went to the store and there’s a person that your mom knows but they don’t know who you are. You go up to them and when you explain to them who are you, are you going to say “Hey! I’m pretty funny and I’m pretty nice”?They may look at you a little crazy because they still have no clue who you are. How is telling somebody your personality gonna tell that person who you are? It’s not. Let’s retry this situation. We go up to the women and we say ” Hey I’m Andrea`s (my mom) daughter!” now they probably won’t look at you crazy but they will know automatically just who you are. Saying who you are to someone is simple right? It’s not every detail about you, it’s simply an easy answer.

I remember the first time it clicked to me. I was sitting in church and they asked the question again “Who are you?” but this time they answered the question simply by saying “I’m a child of God”. I was amazed by this short answer because all my life I tried to be everyone around me and I beat myself up trying to give the exact, detailed, and in-depth answer that never really answered the question. At that moment I just said to myself self ” Ainsley your answer is all wrong. Who you are is what defines you. me being a daughter of Christ is what I am and who I am.” Y`all stop thinking. Just for one moment, I’m asked you…

Close your eyes and without thinking, simply ask “Who am I”. I’m here to answer it for you. You are the light in a dark world, you are God’s warrior, but you ARE God’s child. That is who you are. It’s simply 6 words. “I am a child of God.”. Being a child of God answers every question to define exactly who are you are. What’s your purpose? To show others that I am a child of God. Why are you so happy? I’m a child of God. “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1. The answers can go on and on but your answer still stands.

In this world, you may be flesh, but knowing who are you is within your heart and soul. “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” Romans 7:15-24. Our actions don’t define us, Our world nature does not define us but simply the heart of God in us is who we are.

Have a great day!!! Im always here! xo
