Imagine this.

You are younger and all year you have been wanting this teddy bear you saw a kid at your school holding. Christmas comes around and that’s the only thing you ask for. Two weeks later you wake up to a perfect Christmas morning and you open a gift that was decorated with wrapping paper that has bright white snowflakes and a big red bow on top. As you open the gift you start to see the coat of the bear and you freak. Its what you have been begging for all year right? … A couple of years later the teddy bear is quite old and you began to grow older and soon enough the love and want for this teddy bear disappears. What happened?

See we grow so much on what the newest clothes are or what shoes are in. Things of this world will never give you an eternal life but they will bring characteristics out in you that can bring you down. That teddy bear may have made you happy but the things of this world will never give you everlasting joy. I personally have always wanted to fit in. I always wanted the newest clothes or I wanted everyone to see I had the more than I needed, but never did I know asking for such things shaped me to be someone I didn’t want to be. Eventually, it brought me greed and selfless and it brought a huge amount of pride to me. But never did it bring me joy because behind the screens I built myself with shame. Behind the doors, nobody saw that I was lost because I thought that having all these things that everyone wanted would make everyone accept me. I got people to like me but it was people who eventually made me blind and led me to not only locking God out of my life but I began to lock myself and who I am outside. I grew weak and I got into a stage of my life where I didn’t know what to do. Luke 12:13-21. Jesus gives an illustration and says to a greedy man, “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops’.” The greedy man responded by saying he would build bigger barns and take life easy. God states, ” ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ ‘This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.’ “. God calls this greedy man a fool because he is not rich in his relationship with God yet in only temporary items of the world instead.

I remember my mom sent me this photo when I was younger and it completely changed my point of view.

This photo shows that we ask for the things of the world because we think it will bring us joy but in the end, the world’s things only last a moment and it will never give you the true joy that God gives. God is always holding something greater for you that gives you everlasting joy and eternal life that you will never walk alone in. When are you gonna decide to let the world go and pour everything you have on Jesus’ feet? He’s waiting to give you greater if you are willing to take that step. When you realize you don’t want to live in a recurring trend but an eternal life that will build you a firm foundation, everything changes.

Remember the materialistic objects, trends and temporary loves at the moment will never fulfill you but God will never fail and always complete you to be exactly who you need to be.

Have a great day!!!!! xo
